Assessing the Assessment Tools
Each team will use the links below to review a few web sources. While there are many sites available to assist educators with assessment, we would like each team to concentrate on their specific sites listed below:
Questions for Each Team
For each web source, please answer the following questions:
1. Tell us a brief description of what the site is about and what you can do with the site.
2. On a scale of 1 to 10, how useful is this website to you as a school librarian? Did you find this website helpful? Informative? Why or why not?
3. Did you find the information on the site current? Relevant? Authoritative? Accurate?
4. Would you recommend this site to a teacher looking for information about authentic assessment? Why or why not?
5. For what type of assessment could you use the information on this site - Type I, II, or III? Include grade(s)/age level(s) in your answer.
{For example, This site discusses the use of portfolios to organize and showcase student work. It can be used as a Type III Assessment because Type III assessments are rigorous, aligned to the course curriculum, and the teacher-librarian would determine a measurement scale or rubric ahead of time that measures student learning in the course discussed.}
Each team will have approximately 10 minutes to look at their resources before giving a brief presentation to the entire group for about 2 minutes per web source. Thank you in advance for your willingness to assess these resources and share your feedback with the class.
